The Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences is a hub for arts in the city of Rocky Mount. In the arts center, individuals can learn and exercise their skills in a wide range of genres including painting, dancing, sculpting, quilt-making, pottery, soap-making, yoga, and more. The gallery features rotating exhibits of beautiful work from local and national artists. Six shows from Broadway are produced per year in the theatre. The community theatre offers a wide variety of productions each year and relies on volunteers, including actors and stage crew, to help make the shows a success.
The Centre also houses a Children’s Museum which was one of the first in the nation when it was founded in 1952. It offers interactive science-related exhibits for children, school groups, and families to enjoy.
